About us

Arribas do Côa

We are a family business in which the love for the tradition of our land has motivated us to develop something that we are passionate about.

We produce our wine, olive oil, honey and almonds in the Douro Superior lands, more specifically, in Vila Nova de Foz Côa. Our production began on a small ground with less than one hectare. Its expansion gave rise to two farms with distinct characteristics in two poles of the municipality of Vila Nova de Foz Côa. Even today, the three generations of the family, grandparents, parents and grandchildren, remain united in the construction of the Arribas do Côa products and brand.

In addition to the work and dedication of the family, this project has the support of several experts, including the distinguished Winemaker Mateus Nicolau de Almeida.

The company currently sells wine and olive oil (honey and almond onrequest).

Our Products

Red Wine

The Arribas do Côa Red Wines are produced exclusively at Quinta da Levandeira, on a schist terroir and exclusively with the Touriga Nacional and Touriga Franca grape varieties. The entire viticulture process is carried out in accordance with the most traditional practices in the region.

These wines are endowed with a robustness and complexity that is transversal to them, with marked notes of red fruit and chocolate, culminating in a lasting aftertaste.

They perfectly accompany with local dishes, rustic or intense, from red meat and stews to mushrooms and cured cheeses from the region.

White Wine

The Arribas do Côa White Wines result from a blend of predominantly Rabigato grapes grown in schist terroir in 2 different areas of the Douro: one at an altitude of ~350m, close to the banks of the Côa and Douro rivers; and another at an altitude of ~ 400-500m, already far from the valley, being caressed by the breezes of the tops of the mountains in the region.

These wines retain the robustness that the Douro gives to wine, with its imposing hot climate, but gain the acidity of the schist soils at high altitude, cooled by the mountain breeze. They thus become fresh but structured wines, with an unctuousness and fruitiness that lingers in the mouth and begs for the next glass.

They are ideal to accompany light fish or vegetable dishes, and can also accompany a more loaded meal or appetizers.

Olive Oil

Côa´s Valley Olive Oil is worldwide recognized for its excellent gastronomic characteristics and its very low acidity, which gives it ideal properties even from a cosmetic and medicinal point of view.

Arribas do Côa Extra Virgin Olive Oil is proud to live up to this reputation. In selected ideal years has reached acidity values as low as 0.07! On the banks of the Côa and Douro, agriculture carried out in a traditional and sustainable way and the care taken in the processing of fresh olives give our Olive Oil the lightness and flavor that elevates it to the highest culinary standards, perfectly suited to the most typical cooking as for the finest pastry.

Integrated within the fields of vineyards, olive groves and almond groves are the beehives where Arribas do Côa honey is produced.

It is a rosemary Honey, as pure as nature can offer. We have a small production and its commercialization is only carried out locally, with availability on request.

Almond

Capital of the Amendoeira em Flôr, Vila Nova de Foz Côa is embellished every year with the pink and white colors of these trees that later bear almond fruit.

Arribas do Côa Almond is a high quality organic product. Given the small production, most of its commercialization is made for the transforming industry, being the sale to the public only carried out locally, with availability on request.
